Clara and Robert Schumann
Clara et Robert Schumann, une passion amoureuse et musicale (Clara and Robert Schumann, a passionate love and musical connection)
The passionate love that united Clara Wieck and Robert Schumann perfectly embodies the romantic wave sweeping across Europe at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, tinting poetry, music, painting, and more with its dark melancholy.
Clara Wieck, a young prodigious pianist, is the daughter of Friedrich Wieck, the frightening piano professor whom Robert Schumann chose for himself. Their love for music initially brings them together, and then love in its entirety. However, Clara's father does not approve, and Robert and Clara will struggle against this almost monstrous father for four long years. Four years of clandestine correspondence, four years of barely being able to see each other, four years in which Clara embarks on tours throughout Europe while Robert becomes Schumann.
