The moon with all its phases

La lune : quelle formidable source d'inspiration ! (The moon: what a fantastic source of inspiration!)

Romantic poets, drawn to the nocturnal atmosphere, conducive to intimacy and confessions, have written numerous texts that composers, in turn, set to music. Schubert, Brahms, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Fauré, Debussy, as well as Zemlinsky, Bernstein, and in our time, Graciane Finzi, have chosen it as the theme of their melodies. Dvorak, in his opera Rusalka, and Offenbach, in operetta, have also drawn inspiration from the moon.

It has transcended musical genres, countries, and eras, leading to a musically rich and highly diverse program that can also be accompanied by a lecture on astronomy or performed outdoors - on an evening of a full moon...
